Elizabeth Zimmermann, that is. During Sukkot I re-read her books and received my copy of the anniversary reprint of Knitter's Almanac.
After the end of the holiday marathon I sat down and cast on A Maltese Fisherman Hat. I'm not thrilled with how it turned out and after washing the hat I know I won't be using the sheepsdown for anything near the skin.
I altered the pattern a bit and used a thinner yarn and smaller needles for a version for Thing 2 in Three Irish Girls' Riddermark (Alice colorway). This may become my go-to non-superwash bulky yarn.
Then I cast on for a colorwork swatch cap. I used Cascade 220 in white and pink that was just sitting in my closet. The cap is fine, but I need to use 7s or smaller with this yarn. Thing 3 asked who the cap was for and then claimed it as her own.
Thing 1 doesn't like hats so she chose a headband instead. (Caliorometry in Mosaic Moon's Targhee)
I also cast on a Febryary Fitted Pullover for me. I've got two more lace repeats until I start the waist decreases.
